I Want You In My World Like Hip Hop

You got me bumping in my gut to your spiritual beat
I think I'm falling for your voice because it makes me complete
You feed that poetry to me when I'm weak & hungry
You got me up all night when I need to be sleep
You were born in New York & then you spread to Chicago
I met you watching 'The Box' when I was seven years old
You taught me how to hustle & to make it alone
You were the only one there when everyone else was gone
I remember late at night how we would get it on
You had me dancing in my room
Music blasting in my headphones
You didn't abuse me
You taught me about Africa & religion
While others got high...I stayed low chilling
Remembering what you showed me about my people & how life is not about the riches
But instead you taught me the difference between love & catching feelings
I'm talking about Hip Hop
The soul that the youth is missing
The back bone to love, home, & peace
Before cute dances got up in it
Tribe Called Quest, The Fugees, Pete Rock & CL Smooth,
Nas, Biggie, The Roots, Gang Starr, Wu Tang Clan
Common, Lupe, Mos Def, Rakim
Talib Kweli & Jam Master Jay
I love you Hip Hop
You saved the day
I want more of you in a serious way
I want you back in my life like Public Enemy on the stage
I want you in my world like Hip Hop
Just like back in the day....
